Identity theft and the elderly

Identity theft and the elderly
As people get busy buying gifts, identity thieves are also on the lookout for the perfect victims who are mostly elderly, consumer advocates are now warning. An old woman lost her 63000 dollars in a fortnight, from a care giver she had hired. This was done after forging her signature. A social worker looking after an elderly woman used his position to access her mail, bank accounts and house, then proceeded to write himself checks from her account, lying to her and saying that he was paying all her bills. In another area, some elderly people have been getting phone calls from “the Federal Government Assistance” being promised they are going to add $100 in assistance money to their credit card. Then the caller takes the credit card information and charges $100 to the card. That is not the end. The elderly trusting attitude is also another reason why that exposes them to theft. The story goes on and on, and the elderly suffer quietly with very few reported cases of identity theft. The number of elderly ID theft is increasing every year and at a greater percentage. For example, from 2002 to 2004, the number of people over 50 filing complaints grew by 95 percent, to 145,895. The problem is they don’t believe they have been defrauded. Also, they’re embarrassed and fear losing face because they weren’t guarding information closely enough. Thus it is paramount for the elderly and seniors to know that identity theft is not a black marker and something to be embarrassed about. They need pragmatic and proper assistance so that they can have it dealt with once it occurs. Consumer and elderly advocates say that seniors make very lucrative and sometimes quite easy targets. In some cases having substantial assets including homes, large savings accounts and generally being at home during the day exposes them to this scam. But all is not lost; the elderly seem to be taking precautions of their own. A recent study by the Identity Theft Resource Center in San Diego concluded that 43 percent of victims are of the belief that they know their impostor. They have greatly learned not to easily fall for telephone scams or e-mails promising things beyond the yolk of truth. These are heartless criminals attacking the fragile and most vulnerable and innocent victims. Now, at least, there is a new initiative to keep the elderly from being targets. The effort comes after a series of brutal attacks on the elderly. Authorities have warned against an increasing voter registration scam, saying phone calls and e-mails that are asking for their social security and other financial information are inclined to steal from them. ? ?As for violent muggers on the street who are preying on the elderly, the reward is going up from $12,000 to $14,000 for any kind of information to their arrest.

Climate change is fake

September 2nd, 2010 by Admin

Climate change is fake
I have heard so many people stating that the climate change is fake. Listen there is absolutely no way to dispute that the change in climate is happening. You can see the results of the climate changing by simply turning on your television and watching the news. The predictions however might be something that will never take place but these computer generated predictions are based on the changes that have been occurring for a hundred years. Are computers wrong, well this has been the big dispute. The people that are claiming that climate change is fake might not have all of the facts. I don’t see how you can dispute something that is proven to be occurring right now. The only dispute that you can make logically is the cause of the climate change, and that’s it. Things are changing all around us, and the cause of this is directly related to the change in the weather. Storms are literally brewing everywhere, and there is no doubting that over the last few years there have been more devastating storms that have caused severe damage across the world. Some do claim that there is not direct relation that the increasingly powerful hurricanes are a reflection of the climate change, and this is true, but it sure is a coincidence, wouldn’t you say? You can learn a great amount about the climate change that is going on, and you can also find a good amount of information about why other’s claim that the climate change is fake. This is an important part of our future and you should understand what the effects will be if things continue to heat up. Nothing good is going to come from these types of changes in the heat, and the world as we know it will have changed in ways that we never imagined possible. I dare you to take on the challenge that climate change is fake. Prove the many scientists wrong that have dedicated their lives to showing the proof that it is happening, and it will continue to happen. The only proof that you will find is none. Things are changing and the only dispute that you can make that has even the slightest bit of truth too it is that the causes of the climate change is due to natural causes. Other than that there is no proof that climate change is fake. There are many plans that are going into effect that will not prevent the inevitable, but will help to plan for the many problems of hunger and destruction that will eventually occur.

Car title loan

August 31st, 2010 by Admin

Car title loan
There are many types of car loans. Various lenders have come up with different schemes to meet the financing needs of people to buy their dream car. The lenders can be either banks or other financial institutions. A car title loan is one such type of loan. A car title loan is a secured loan in which the borrower’s car is used as collateral. Car title loan is one of the easiest loans to get. In a car title loan, the car’s certificate of title is kept as a security. The amount of the loan is exactly equal to the market value of the car. In the eventuality that the borrower defaults in the payments, then the lender repossesses the car and liquidates it to recover the outstanding loan amount. There are many doubts in the minds of the borrower while going for a car title loan. One of them is whether the borrower is allowed to use the car during the period the car is pledged to the lending institution. There is no need to worry. The borrower can use the car during the repayment period, only the certificate of title and a set of keys are given to the lenders and once the amount is repaid, these are given back to the borrower. In case of a default, the borrower will loose the car. Another very common query that people have in their mind about car title loan is about the eligibility requirements. Following are certain documents that you need to produce, first being the title of the car in your name followed by address and identity proof. The car insurance proof and your employment and income proofs are also required. Also, you have to be above 21 years to apply for such a loan. On approval of the loan, a title loan agreement will be signed between the lender and the borrower and the borrowers are expected to read the terms and conditions of the loans well before signing on the agreement. Car title loan is for short periods only. Typically it will be between 14 days to a month in duration. Since the loan term is short, the interest rates are usually quite high. However, credit checks are not always done, hence even people with bad credit can apply for a car title loan. In fact, people with bad credit history should take advantage of this opportunity in case of an emergency. Car title loan can be a convenient and quick way to arrange for cash in case of an emergency.
